One of the affiliated researchers of the Bandim Health Project have been rewarded The Equality Price: The Immigrant medical clinic in Odense, under the leadership of Morten Sodemann, MD, member of the board of Enreca Health, has been given the new 'Equality Price' by the Danish journal 'Dagens Medicin' in a competition with eight other candidates. The committee behind this new price emphasises that within its two years of existence, the clinic has actively worked to ensure equal access to health care within the Danish health care system for a group of highly vulnerable people. A scholarship for Sara Østergaard of 216.000 dkr is received from the The Danish Council for Independent Research to the project "Patterns of childhood death in rural Guinea-Bissau".

Peter Aaby has received a grant of 10 mill dkr from Danida for the development research project "Monitoring and assessing the impact of vaccinations and other childhood interventions for both boys and girls". The project will be carried out in collaboration with several research sites in Africa and Asia, all within the INDEPTH network.

A vitamin A paper has now been published in BMJ - it is posible to enter the website www.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/340/mar09_1/c1101  and read the paper "Vitamin A supplementation and BCG vaccination at birth in low birthweight neonates: two by two factorial randomised controlled trial" and the accompanying editorial.
